How long have you been doing what you do and how did you get to be a Health and Life Coach?
I have wanted a career in the health and fitness industry since I began teaching “high impact” aerobics during my college years. For me, movement is the keystone habit that impacts my ability to live a healthy life. I grew up dancing and danced all the way through college (earning degrees in Marketing and Dance), but since then have competed in national aerobic competitions, earned a third-degree black belt in Taekwondo, and have incorporated running, walking, bike riding, stretching, yoga and Pilates into my weekly routine as I age. My healthy lifestyle habits support my vision of staying healthy and keeping fit as I age.
I am also a three-time breast cancer survivor who has experienced various cancer treatments and significant surgeries. One of my first doctors shared with me that a positive attitude and a holistic view of health would enable me to heal most speedily and completely. I took her words to heart and made some changes in my diet, activity, and mindfulness that helped me to move forward, defining myself as healthier than before the cancer diagnoses. This “personal power” I accessed, and have since developed, is something I strongly desire to share with clients.
I see many women around my age getting “stuck.” The habits and routines that were once working for them are no longer getting the job done. I am passionate about helping women in their 40s, 50s, and 60s learn to change their habits and behaviors to live their best lives! This passion drove me to investigate several coaching certifications. The program developed by Health Coach Institute seemed like the best fit for the women I aim to serve, so I began my training and became certified by Health Coach Institute and the International Coaching Federation as a Health and Life Coach in August, 2021.
What kinds of clients do you work with?
I work with women in their 40s, 50s, and 60s who struggle with fatigue, low energy, weight gain, body image and stress as they age. Many are overwhelmed by work, family, and other obligations. They tend to prioritize the needs of others before themselves. They have forgotten how to nourish themselves with food, movement, sleep, and relaxation. They’re ready for a step-by-step system to regain their best body and energy!
How are you different from other Health Coaches?
Most health coaches give you a program that tells you WHAT to do. The program is usually based on diet, deprivation, and an intimidating exercise regimen. If this approach worked, it would have worked already. Most of us already know WHAT to do.
My focus includes the 5 other “W” questions of WHY, WHEN, WHERE, WHO, and HOW. This approach to coaching is about transforming beliefs and mindsets so that my clients can be present with themselves and their lives in a whole new way. My clients are guided towards making their own choices that align with their vision and desired outcomes. I follow that work with step-by- step guidelines around healthy ways to approach eating, exercise and lifestyle.
What type of personality do you work best with and what is expected of me?
My Journey to Wellness programs were created for women who are absolutely ready and fully committed to showing up for themselves so that they can be the best version of themselves possible.
Consider what you’ll do with me to be a transformational experience where you’re consistently taking action. No more worrying that you’ll never find something that works for you; you’ll open up to a very different way of thinking and full support while you achieve this incredibly exciting goal!
Who does this program NOT work for?
Please know that I’m very selective about who I work with, choosing to (gently) turn away people who aren’t a match for my program and won’t get the results they would have invested in. (It wouldn’t be fair to them).
The Journey to Wellness program is NOT for those who aren’t ready to commit financially to their transformation, and it is NOT for those who just want a list of “eat this, not that” or “do this, not that” (because if that worked, it would have worked already).
What exactly is your system and what does it include?
The Journey to Wellness program is a 12 – session holistic journey that involves mind, body, and soul healing.
The “6 W Questions” noted above constitute a simple formula for getting the complete story on any subject. When I’m working with you as my client, we are looking for the COMPLETE story around food, energy, and body.
As we move through the Journey to Wellness program, we will address the many different ways that our bodies and minds are connected. We progress through the sessions together in a flow that has proven to deliver results.
In addition to these steps, you will learn tips, tricks, and strategies to manage your health and your life more easily and to make your health and your life work for YOU (instead of the other way around).
Does this really work?
Yes! The result of our work is an approach to energy, food and body that has you feeling peaceful, powerful, and purposeful, maybe for the first time in your life.
Be sure to check out the Journey to Wellness Success Stories to read the stories of women just like you who have gotten this kind of result.
What results can I expect?
You can expect to:
- Create a vision for the health outcomes you desire
- Anchor into your Big Why (this is the real reason why making this change matters!)
- Clear clutter (emotional and physical) from your life so you can make space for the new you
Get specifics on how to approach food and energy by:
- Discovering a template for what to eat at each meal
- Upgrading the quality of food you eat
- Incorporating hydration (the right way)
- Phasing in foods that give you energy
- Phasing out foods that take energy away
- Learning how often to eat each day
- Discovering how and when to use fasting
- Uncovering your secret weapon around food, which is HOW you’re eating and WHO you are being when you are eating
Optimize your lifestyle by:
- Discovering all the nutrients that don’t go on your plate, but feed your body and your soul, like:
• Sleep & Movement
• Love & Relationships
• Fun & Play - Being honest about what’s working and what’s not working in your career, relationships, family life, spiritual connection and more (where do you say “yes” when you really mean “no”?)
- Learning how to receive help and support (you’re always giving, but who’s giving back to you?)
- Putting yourself and your health first (this is YOUR time – no more putting yourself last on the priority list)
How quickly can I expect results?
Your journey begins the second you say “YES” and continues every day throughout your 90-Day experience and beyond.
How can I guarantee myself that I will get the results I want from Journey to Wellness?
If you’ve tried things and failed in the past, chances are good that you didn’t have the right support, the right system, or the right accountability. In Journey to Wellness, you’ll get all of these.
Part of the reason for the significant investment in this experience is to ensure that you show up for yourself like never before.
Will I recover the investment I put into this coaching program?
If you add up everything you’ve spent over the years on diets and exercise and all the ways you’ve tried to lose weight, how much would that be? If things don’t change, how much would you spend in the coming years searching for a solution? For most of my clients, the answer to both questions is A LOT. I want you to stop reading for just one moment to ask yourself, “What is wellness worth to me?”
The information and skills you learn – and the personal transformation you make – with Journey to Wellness will be with you forever, transforming your health and your life in so many ways.
Lori, based on everything I’ve read and heard about you, I know you’re the one I want to learn from. How do I get started?
Congratulations on making a decision for a totally new health experience. I’m honored and excited to be your guide on this journey!
Here’s how we get started:
- During our initial conversation, you can officially enroll in the Journey to Wellness program
- I’ll walk you through how to make the investment
- We’ll choose a recurring day of the week and time for your sessions
- These sessions should be considered a sacred time – they are your first priority because YOU are the first priority
- Sessions will occur once per week for 90 days
- I’ll send you a “Welcome Email” that includes a Client Agreement (you’ll sign this agreement before our first session)
Tackling all the above is a lot on our own and often overwhelming to the point that it is easier to stay where we are. Coaching is a process that is facilitated in a specific way so you can be different, without having to think about being different. The first step is raising awareness about what we really desire for ourselves and our lives.
Do people ever renew and continue working with you?
Yes, about 1/2 of my clients want to continue the work – they love the on-going support and stretch. If that’s something you’d like, I’ll share how you can do that as we get closer to the completion of your first experience.
OK, I’m ready to do this for myself, but I have a couple of additional questions. Can we address them in our Discovery Session?
Absolutely. We’ll be sure to cover all your questions, plus the Discovery Session will give you firsthand experience of what it would feel like to have a powerful coach and mentor in your corner.
